Before you settle in for the night, thereâs one more treat for the mobile-loving crowd out there. Cellphone Signal managed to snag some pre-release shots of a new Motorola Android device. The phone displayed above is said to be the Motorola Cliq 2 (previously the âBegoniaâ). While it is in fact a ânewâ phone, the hardware is rather old news â" 5-megapixel camera, wifi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and the revamped Moto BLUR UI.
One thing that has caught our eye, however, is that funky honeycomb-esque keyboard. While it certainly looks cool in pictures, I canât help but wonder how it actually performs. And then thereâs the realization that a lot of potential keyboard space is wasted on the design â" not good on a mobile device.
As for shipping software, anything from Android 2.1-2.3 is possible. Once Motorola goes official with this phone at CES weâll update accordingly. But if weâre to go out on a limb now regarding potential Android 3.0 rumors â" the mid-January release date is too soon to snag the next version of Android. Not to mention, the Cliq 2 isnât exactly a âflagshipâ device worthy of an exclusive launch of Androidâs latest and greatest.
